Congratulations, you've found me!
Here in this journal, I sporadically update and talk mainly about my life. The subjects covered range from my mental health and relationship with my family to my fannish activity and internet memes, and various other things in between. Because this journal has been where I've gone to talk about my family and how they drive me crazy (among other things), I will not be friending members of my immediate family.

1. Anonymous commenting is disabled, and I do log IP addresses*. I had problems with spammers and offensive anonymice a while back; as a result, I locked down this journal. If I'm going to screen comments, I will let you know up front; if I screen your comment after you've posted, I'll let you know that I've done so, and also why.

2. I am fannish. I've been known to post recs from time to time; these recs may or may not come with warnings. I do warn for major character death, rape/dub-con, and will advertise kink. I post updates on any transformative work to my Dreamwidth account. If I need con-crit, I'll let you know. I also am beginning to post filk (simple explanation: the folk/people's music of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, along with some other stuff).

3. I used to have a paid account; occasionally I made voice posts, which you can listen to here if you're interested.

4a. I will try not to go to your journal and disagree with you in a rude or offensive way; I expect the same courtesy in return. Every day is Defriending Amnesty Day around here, so if you find that our tastes have diverged, or you don't want to read my posts, or if you think I'm a dirty trashcan filled with poop (anybody else here see Surf's Up and think those penguin kids were adorable?), just take me off your friends list--no need to message or comment to me and let me know; every few months I go through and clean up my flist of journals I don't read or who don't have me friended back and remove them.
4b. Just because I do not comment on your entry doesn't mean I ignored it or didn't care about it. Sometimes I have nothing to say. However, just because I didn't ignore it doesn't necessarily mean that I didn't miss it; if there's something you posted that you really want me to read, or that you really want my input on, feel free to message me, email me, or comment on one of my entries and draw my attention to it. Sometimes I see something, and I mean to comment, but I get distracted and forget.

5. I am a socially liberal, politically Democrat, native Kentuckian/former Texan, white, working-to-middle-class, homoromantic, asexual feminist. I support labor unions; queer rights; transgender inclusivity; the right to bodily autonomy; a woman's right to choose a safe, legal, and healthy abortion; the dismantling of white supremacist culture; universal health care; a more just system of meting out justice to criminals; a better educational system in the US; and that, as Margaret Cho says in her book I Have Chosen to Stay and Fight, "If you aren't a feminist, kill yourself."

Edited to add 04/27/20: I originally posted this in 2006. Holy fuck, times have changed. 2020 seemed like an impossible year; now that it's here, it still seems impossible.
